Pazzi, pupe e pillole
Jerome Littlefield, orfano di un famoso medico, è costretto ad abbandonare gli studi universitari sulle orme del padre per via di uno strano male che lo porta a immedesimarsi con i malati e a proiettare su stesso le loro sofferenze. Assunto come tuttofare in una clinica psichiatrica, Jerome incontra Susan, una ragazza di cui era innamorato quando era studente e che ora soffre di depressione. Jerome la aiuta a guarire colmandola d’affetto e di attenzioni e nel frattempo riesce a risalire all’origine del proprio trauma guarendo egli stesso dal suo male, giusto in tempo per scoprire di essere innamorato della giovane infermiere Lucy e non prima, naturalmente, di aver messo a soqquadro l’intera clinica.

I canti contro la guerra fatti nei campus universitari non aiutano certo due contadini in una risaia. Tuttavia in una pellicola potrebbe esserci qualcosa che impedirà a un soldato di sparare contro nove bambini un giorno o l’altro in qualche parte del mondo. Adesso; l’anno prossimo; tra cinque anni. The Disorderly Orderly
Jerome Littlefield, son of a famous physician, is constrained to give up his studies at the medicine school because of a strange disorder which causes him to identify with the patients and project their pains onto himself. Working as an orderly in a mental home, Jerome meets Susan, a girl he was in love with as a student, who is now suffering from depression. Jerome helps her to recover giving her lots of loving and care, meanwhile he manages to trace the origin of his own disorder. He recovers just in time to find out that he is in love with the young nurse Lucy, but, of course, before he wreaks havoc on the whole sanitarium.

Frank Tashlin
Frank Tashlin (Weehawken, New Jersey, 1913 - 1972) ha cominciato a lavorare negli anni 30 come cartoonist e disegnatore di strisce a fumetti per la Warner Bros. e nel 1935 è entrato negli studi di Hal Roach per scrivere e dirigere film animati. Dopo aver collaborato con Walt Disney ed essere tornato alla Warner per realizzare cortometraggi di propaganda bellica, alla fine degli anni 40 è passato al cinema comico scrivendo gag per i fratelli Marx, Lucile Ball e Bob Hope. La svolta della sua carriera avviene nel 1956, con Gangster cerca moglie, che segna la sua prima collaborazione con la coppia Dean Martin-Jerry Lewis. Proprio la collaborazione con quest’ultimo segna l’ultimo periodo della sua carriera, in cui realizza celebri film comici come Hollywood o morte (1956), La bionda esplosiva (1957), Dove vai sono guai,(1963) e Pazzi, pupe e pillole (1964).
Frank Tashlin (Weehawken, New Jersey, 1913 – 1972) started working at Warner Bros. as an animator in 1932 and in 1935 moved to Hal Roach’s studio in 1935 as a writer. After working for Walt Disney and for Warner Bros. again during World War II on numerous wartime shorts, at the end of 1940s moved on from animation to become a gag writer for the Marx Brothers, Lucille Ball, and Bob Hope. Beginning with the 1956 film The Girl Can’t Help It, Tashlin had a streak of commercial successes with the Martin and Lewis film Hollywood or Bust (1956), Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? (1957), and of Jerry Lewis’ solo films (Who’s Minding the Store?, 1963; The Disorderly Orderly, 1964).
