Takva
Muharrem ha sempre seguito con rigida osservanza i precetti islamici, vive un’esistenza semplice, lavora a Istanbul in un posto dove si fanno sacchi. È umile, introverso e solo. Tutto casa, moschea e bottega. Solo la notte, un sogno ricorrente viene a turbare la sua tranquillità. Un giorno, le cose cambiano: il capo della sua ricca comunità religiosa gli chiede di farsi carico della colletta delle offerte. Muharrem diventa importante, gli danno un cellulare e un computer, gira per la città a raccogliere i soldi, incontra situazioni che neppure immaginava. Si trova a faccia a faccia con la povertà, le ipocrisie nascoste, la corruzione. Scopre che dietro i rituali si nascondono troppe miserie. Si chiede cosa può fare adesso…
"La parola «takva» indica la consapevolezza di sentire Dio al proprio fianco, l’affidarsi a lui, il riconoscerne l’onnipresenza. Takva è un film sulla crepa che si viene a creare quando questa sincera sicurezza viene meno. Quando un mondo interiore si incrina. Quando ci si accorge, come succede a Muharrem, che, al proprio fianco e dentro di sé, c’è dell’altro. Una donna, i soldi, il potere. Forse quel movimento cadenzato dei fedeli che cercano di raggiungere l’estasi religiosa è anche un modo per tenere a bada qualcosa che ribolle dentro". (Bruno Fornara)
Takva
Muharrem has always closely followed Islamic precepts; he lives a simple life. He works in Istanbul in a shop where sacks are make. He’s a humble, introverted and solitary man. All house, mosque and workshop. But at night a recurring dream disturbs his tranquility. One day, things change: the head of his rich, religious community asks him to become responsible for collecting the offerings. Muharrem becomes important; they give him a cell phone and a computer. He goes around the city collecting money, encountering situations that he had never dreamed of. He finds himself face to face with poverty, hidden hypocrisies, corruption. He discovers that too much misery is hiding behind the rituals. He asks himself what he can do…
"The word “tavka” means the awareness of feeling God near you, of entrusting yourself to him, of recognizing his omnipresence. Tavka is a film about the fissure that is created when this sincere certainty weakens. When an interior world cracks. When you realize, like Muharrem did, that there’s something else next to you and inside you. A woman, money, power. Maybe that rhythmic movement that the faithful make when they try to achieve religious ecstasy is also a way to hold something at bay that is boiling inside you." (Bruno Fornara)

Özer Kiziltan
Özer Kiziltan (Istanbul, 1963) ha frequentato i corsi di legge all’Università di Istanbul, che ha poi abbandonato per studiare cinema e televisione presso l’Università Mimar Sinan. Ha realizzato diversi cortometraggi premiati in numerosi festival, prima di cominciare a lavorare in televisione, per la quale ha scritto e diretto numerose serie. Takva è il suo primo lungometraggio.
Özer Kiziltan (Istanbul, 1963) studied law at the University of Istanbul. Before completing his degree, he left law school in order to study cinema and television at the Mimar Sinan University. He has written and directed several TV shows and award-winning short films. Takva is his debut feature full-length film.
