Versione americana della sitcom inglese della serie britannica Man About the House (Un uomo in casa), la serie racconta la vita di Jack Tripper, un cuoco playboy di Santa Monica che per dividere un appartamento con due ragazze si finge omosessuale con il padrone di casa. Lo aiutano nella finzione le coinquiline Janet e Chrissy, una brunetta fiorista e una bionda svampita che John cercherà di sedurre senza successo. La casa è gestita dai coniugi Roper: Stanley, petulante con gli inquilini e impotente con la moglie, ed Helen, ironica consorte che non perde occasione per ridicolizzare il marito. La serie iniziò nel 1977 e continuò fino al 1984 per 172 episodi. John Ritter vincerà nel 1984 un Golden Globe e un Emmy Awards.

Three’s Company
The American version of the British sitcom Man About the House shows the life of Jack Tripper, a playboy chef who lives in Santa Monica. He rents an apartment with two girls and pretends to be gay to fool his landlord. His roommates go along with the pretense; Janet is a brunette florist and Chrissy is a dizzy blonde whom Jack is vainly trying to seduce. The house is run by Mr. and Mrs. Roper: Stanly is petulant with his renters and impotent with his wife and Helen, his ironic wife, never misses a chance to make fun of him. The series began in 1977 and ran until 1984 for 172 episodes. John Ritter won a Golden Globe and an Emmy in 1984.

Janet and Chrissy find Jack asleep in the bathtub following the farewell party of their ex-roommate.The two girls, who lack culinary skills, decide to share the apartment with Jack when they learn he is studying to be a gourmet chef. But they first have to overcome objections from they landlords, Stanley and Helen Roper, a romantically frustrated couple who live downstairs.
